A perfect example of why good things are worth waiting for. Although this is a late-season variety—it doesn’t ripen until about 85 days—the wait is rewarded with delicious, very fleshy fruits that can measure over 10 cm in diameter and weigh more than half a kilogram! The plant grows vigorously, with plenty of leaves and thick stems. The variety originates from the city of Cluj, in Transylvania. The plants require staking.
The seeds were introduced to the Seed Ambassadors project thanks to German collector Gerhard Bohl. The founders of Adaptive Seeds saw similar tomatoes on farms in Transylvania and preserved this variety as part of the region’s horticultural diversity.
