The Slava
(heirloom) variety is an exceptionally interesting option of Czech origin, prized by gardeners for its combination of early maturity, high yield, and strong resistance. The plant grows vigorously, reaching a height of about 120–150 cm, so it requires staking and training to 1–2 shoots. Its distinctive potato-like leaves give it a unique appearance and set it apart from many other early varieties. The time from transplanting the seedlings to the first harvest is about 65 days, which places Slava in the group of early varieties and makes it one of the fastest-maturing tomatoes in our collection.
The fruits are uniformly round, deep red, and weigh up to 60 grams. They stand out for their excellent, classic tomato flavor—a harmonious blend of sweetness and delicate acidity. Thanks to their size, they are perfect for salads and sandwiches, as well as for processing and canning. The plant sets fruit in numerous clusters, which, combined with its early maturity, ensures abundant and consistent harvests.
Slava’s above-average resistance to leaf diseases deserves special mention. During a season when many varieties succumbed to pathogen pressure very early on, Slava maintained healthy foliage for significantly longer, allowing growers to enjoy the fruit at a time when other plants already required intensive protection. This makes it an excellent choice for those who expect reliability and consistent yields even under difficult weather conditions.
Compared to other varieties available at Pomidorlandia, Slava stands out for its unique combination of traits. Compared to the popular Stupice , it ripens just as early but has slightly larger and meatier fruit. Compared to larger varieties that take longer to produce a crop, Slava offers a faster and more consistent harvest with a lower risk of disease-related losses. This variety combines intense flavor, a practical fruit size, and high resistance—making it highly recommended for both home gardens and commercial plantings.
