Bowen Buckeye is a historic variety associated with Queensland, Australia. Its cultivation and seed propagation were already described in the 1920s. In the official Queensland Agricultural Journal of May 1, 1926, on page 473, it was listed alongside Denisonia as a variety developed by the local Department of Agriculture. The text illustrates how local breeding efforts and seed propagation helped advance tomato cultivation.
Contemporary descriptions of the variety indicate red, slightly flattened fruits weighing about 100 g, with juicy flesh and a pleasantly tart flavor. This is an early-season tomato, with the first harvest typically occurring approximately 65 days after the seedlings are transplanted.
