An excellent beefsteak tomato variety. Although the name suggests that the fruit is yellow, it is actually much closer to orange in color. Yellow Oxheart is a very old variety, passed on to Tomatofest by Karen Teets of West Virginia, who received it from Homer Fike, who had been growing it for at least several decades. The fruits are uniform, heart-shaped, with a very high pulp-to-seed ratio and very few seeds. In terms of flavor, they are sweet with a slight hint of acidity. The skin is delicate and does not crack. This tomato is well-suited for shipping. It is a late-season variety; the fruits ripen about 90 days after planting.
