It is one of the best "black" tomato varieties. The tall plants produce plenty of beefsteak-type tomatoes even under unfavorable conditions. The mahogany-brown fruits are about 7.5–10 cm in diameter and weigh 250–300 g. The fruit is distinguished by a naturally salty flavor note. The fruit tends to crack at the stem end. It bears fruit 75–80 days after being transplanted to its permanent location. Suitable for open-ground and protected cultivation.
The variety originates from Crimea. It was added to the Seed Savers Exchange collection thanks to Swedish collector Lars Olov Rosenström—this is one example of how seed exchange has helped spread dark-fleshed tomatoes beyond their region of origin.
