Red Plum Cherry comes from the French island of Oléron and is known in the TomatoFest collection as Oleron Red Plum. Gary Ibsen received the seeds from Paul Middleton, who had obtained them from a local farmer. According to Middleton, the variety had been grown on the island for generations. The plants produce a very bountiful harvest of fruit that grows in clusters, no larger than 3–4 cm, plum-shaped, with a sweet and slightly tangy flavor. The slightly tougher skin allows the fruit to withstand transport well, making it ideal for commercial cultivation. The fruit ripens about 70 days after transplanting.
