Cascade Village Blue is a variety developed by Tom Wagner, created by crossing Green Zebra Heirloom with an Indigo-type tomato. The sun-exposed parts of the fruit take on a very dark, almost black color, while the ripening background turns red. The dark color alone does not indicate ripeness—it’s also worth checking the underside of the fruit, which receives less sunlight.
The fruits have an excellent flavor and few seeds. There may be some variation in their characteristics in our cultivation. The plant grows tall and requires support, and the first harvest occurs about 75 days after transplanting.
