The Peppermint variety is a unique bicolor tomato that stands out for its beautiful red-and-orange fruits with distinct stripes. The fruits are medium-sized, weighing between 240 and 400 grams, though some sources indicate they can reach as much as 450 grams. As they ripen, the orange hues become more intense, giving them a striking appearance.

Peppermint tomatoes are characterized by a sweet, fruity flavor reminiscent of tropical fruits. This is a very high-yielding variety that grows tall, requiring staking and adequate support. The skin is delicate and prone to damage, so the fruit must be handled with care during harvesting. This variety matures approximately 80–82 days after transplanting.

Due to its unique appearance and flavor, “Peppermint” is an excellent choice for salads and as a decorative addition to dishes. It is an open-pollinated variety, meaning you can collect seeds from it for future seasons.

Peppermint is preserved as a variety from the Crab Orchard area in Tennessee. Its red and orange streaks and mild, sweet flavor place it among a group of striking American bicolor tomatoes, such as the “Pineapple.”
