Fixed variety originally from Italy, from where around 1950 it found its way to the farm of Mrs. Meairl Houseworth in southern Pennsylvania. Beefsteak fruit, with little juice, very firm and fleshy, perfect for making ketchup. The fruit is large, up to half a kilogram in weight, bright red, with a characteristic elongated structure. Medium-late variety, ripens after about 80 days from planting into the ground. Tall plants require tying.
