Commercial variety, whose history dates back to 1917, discovered in Mississippi. Selected from the Early Detroit variety, it was officially introduced to the market by D.M. Ferry & Company in the 1920s. The fruit is medium-sized (150-250 g), round, with dark pink skin and red flesh. These tomatoes are resistant to cracking and have a hard skin, making them well suited for transport. The plant is tall (approx. 160 cm), requires tying, regular leaves. Variety valued for high yield and resistance to diseases, especially potato blight.
This variety is especially popular in warm climate regions, such as the states adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico, but also grows well in other regions.
