Pink Sweet was first introduced to the public in 1990 by Hazel Turner of Tazewell, Tennessee. It was named for Craig LeHoullier, a renowned tomato expert, who felt that its unique flavor and beautiful appearance deserved a more distinctive name than “No Name,” which was its original name.
Pink Sweet is a mid-early beefsteak tomato. The fruit is large, often weighing 350 to 450 grams, with a slightly flattened shape and green “shoulders.” It has a deep pink skin and a delicate, sweet flesh that has an exceptionally creamy consistency. The seeds are small, making the fruit fleshy without being watery. The skin is tender but fairly resistant to cracking. The fruit matures in about 80 days after planting.
The plants are tall and require staking or support to achieve optimum yields. Pink Sweet is ideal for sandwiches and salads, thanks to its rich flavor and beautiful appearance.
If you are looking for a tomato with a unique flavor and history, Pink Sweet is a great choice for your garden.
