Vegetative Propagation
Also known as: asexual reproductionpropagation from cuttings
Vegetative propagation involves producing new plants from parts of the parent plant, most commonly from lateral shoots. Tomatoes produce adventitious roots very easily, so rooting cuttings is simple and results in plants that are genetically identical to the parent plant. To root a cutting, select a healthy shoot, place its lower part in clean, moist soil, and label the variety.
