Rooting

Rooting is the process by which a cutting or shoot fragment develops new roots. Tomatoes produce adventitious roots very easily, which is why propagation by rooting side shoots is simple and produces plants that are genetically identical to the parent plant. The process proceeds most quickly in a warm and humid environment. To root a cutting, select a healthy side shoot, remove its lower leaves, and place the stem in clean, moist soil, protecting the cutting from drying out.
