Soil

The soil is the environment in which the tomato’s root system develops. Its structure, fertility, pH, humus content, and water-holding capacity have a direct impact on plant health and yield. Tomatoes grow best in fertile, well-drained, well-aerated soil rich in organic matter. Even the best variety will not reach its full potential in poorly prepared soil. Before planting, it’s a good idea to have the soil tested, add mature compost if needed, and avoid compacting the planting site while working.
