Organic matter
Organic matter includes all plant and animal remains, as well as the products of their decomposition, present in the soil. It is a source of humus and nutrients and improves soil structure. A high organic matter content increases the soil’s ability to store water and promotes the growth of beneficial microorganisms. It is advisable to increase its content gradually by using mature compost, mulch, and organic fertilizers tailored to the soil’s needs.
