Vegetative-Generative Balance

Also known as: vegetative-generative balance

Vegetative-generative balance refers to the proper proportion between the growth of foliage and fruit set. It is one of the most important concepts in modern tomato cultivation. A plant that is too vegetative produces many leaves and few fruits, while one that is too generative quickly depletes its resources and grows more poorly. This balance is achieved through proper fertilization, watering, and plant management.
