Variety

A variety is a group of plants with stable, repeatable hereditary traits, such as flavor, color, fruit size, growth habit, or disease resistance. Stable, established varieties can retain their characteristics across successive generations if varietal purity is maintained during seed collection. The offspring of hybrids F1 and material that has not yet been established are usually variable and do not faithfully replicate the characteristics of the parent plant. Selecting the right variety is one of the most important decisions when planning a crop.
