Varietal purity

Varietal purity refers to the preservation of all the characteristic traits of a given variety when propagating from its own seeds. To maintain it, accidental cross-pollination between varieties must be avoided, and nasiona should be selected from typical, healthy plants. In the case of tomatoes, the risk of natural cross-pollination is relatively low, but it may be higher in varieties where the stigma extends beyond the anther cone, especially when pollinating insects are highly active. For collectors and those preserving heirloom varieties, this is one of the fundamental principles of producing your own seeds.
