Pruning (training the tomato plant)

Pruning is one of the most important maintenance practices in the cultivation of indeterminate tomatoes. It mainly involves removing side shoots (suckers), regulating the number of main shoots, and gradually removing the oldest leaves. This ensures that the plant receives more light, is better ventilated, and directs more assimilates to the developing fruits. It is best to perform these tasks in the morning, in dry weather, so that the cuts can dry quickly and do not become a source of infection.
