Infection
Also known as: infection
An infection is the process by which a pathogen invades and multiplies within plant tissues. It can be caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi, or fungus-like organisms. Infection most often occurs through natural openings, mechanical damage, or the root system. Merely coming into contact with a pathogen does not always lead to the development of disease—much depends on the plant’s condition and environmental factors. If an infection is suspected, limit contact between the diseased plant and healthy ones, disinfect tools, and identify the cause before selecting a treatment.
