Bacterial Disease

Bacteriosis is a general term for bacterial diseases of tomatoes caused by various species of bacteria, including those of the genera Xanthomonas, Pseudomonas, and Clavibacter. Symptoms may include spots on leaves and fruit, necrosis, wilting of entire plants, and dieback of shoots. Bacterial diseases are much more difficult to control than most fungal diseases, because once symptoms appear, treatment options are very limited. Bacteria spread through water, tools, hands, plant debris, and infected nasiona. Prevention is of the utmost importance: use healthy planting stock, disinfect tools, avoid working on wet plants, and promptly remove infected specimens.
