Temperature

Temperature is one of the most important factors affecting the growth, flowering, pollination, and ripening of tomatoes. Most varieties thrive best at temperatures of about 20–28°C during the day and 16–20°C at night. Prolonged cold spells limit nutrient uptake, while high temperatures can cause flowers to drop and reduce fruit quality. Maintaining temperature conditions that are as stable as possible promotes healthy growth and high yields. In a tunnel, it is advisable to use a minimum-maximum thermometer and take action—such as ventilation, shading, or covering—before the plants show signs of stress.
