Germination

Germination is the first stage of a tomato’s life, beginning after the seed absorbs water. During this stage, the embryo begins to grow, the radicle appears, followed by the hypocotyl and cotyledons. Nasiona germinate efficiently in moist, well-aerated soil at a temperature of about 20–30°C, and the first seedlings usually appear after a few days. Cold temperatures delay emergence and prolong the seeds’ exposure to mold, while extremely high temperatures can inhibit germination. After emergence, it is advisable to maintain a slightly lower temperature to prevent the seedlings from becoming leggy.
