Generative Phase

Also known as: generative growth

The generative phase encompasses development related to flowering, fruit set, and fruit ripening. In tomatoes, especially indeterminate varieties, these processes occur simultaneously with the formation of new roots, stems, and leaves. Fruit load affects the plant’s water and nutrient requirements, but fertilization should also take into account soil conditions, the stage of fruit development, and growing conditions. Maintaining a balance between vegetative and generative growth is a key aspect of tomato cultivation.
