Fruit Deformities
Not all misshapen tomatoes are a sign of disease. Many varieties naturally produce ribbed, irregular, or strongly flattened fruits. However, deformities can also result from cold temperatures during flower development, pollination problems, mechanical damage, or severe environmental stress. In most cases, they affect only the fruit’s appearance, not its taste. Healthy, non-rotting fruit can be used, but the appearance of numerous new deformities should prompt you to check the conditions during flowering.
