Excessive fertilization
Also known as: overfertilization
Over-fertilization involves providing plants with more nutrients than they are able to utilize. It most often leads to soil salinization, root damage, impaired uptake of other elements, and a decline in fruit quality. The symptoms can resemble both nutrient deficiencies and physiological disorders. When fertilizing tomatoes, the “more often, but less” principle works much better. If over-fertilization is suspected, suspend further applications, check EC or soil salinity, and do not add another product in an attempt to “balance out” the symptoms.
