A brilliant dwarf variety. The plant is not very tall, reaching about 80 cm, with a very sturdy stem and distinctive, strongly rugose leaves. It is stocky, compact, and full of turgor. It bears fruit from mid-season onward, very abundantly. The fruits weigh up to about 350–400 grams and have a beautiful pineapple-like color: striped and yellow-orange on the outside, turning almost red on the inside.
Caitydid is a cross between ‘New Big Dwarf’ and ‘Mortgage Lifter Pesta’ created by Patrina Nuske Small. Craig LeHoullier named the variety by combining his daughter’s name, Caitlin, with the English word “katydid,” meaning grasshopper. The Dwarf Tomato Project released it in 2017.
