An interesting variety of dwarf tomato. Thanks to its strong stem, the plant can be trained using supports typically used for bell peppers. The plant does not exceed 90 cm in height. The leaves are strongly rugose. The fruits are fairly large, up to 300 grams, with distinct stripes. The flesh is meaty, as in a beefsteak tomato. The fruits ripen about 80 days after transplanting.
Chocolate Lightning originates from a cross between ‘Dwarf Wild Fred’ and ‘Beauty King’ made by Vince Lavallo as part of the Dwarf Tomato Project. Craig LeHoullier selected this line and named it. It became available to gardeners in 2015, combining a compact growth habit with large, striped fruits.
