The fruit is a deep orange color, very fleshy, and contains few seeds. The flesh is velvety, and the skin is delicate yet resistant to mechanical damage. In terms of flavor, it is a very pleasant surprise—refreshingly tart with a distinct sweet note. It is a late-season variety, reaching maturity about 90 days after transplanting.
The variety was discovered by Andrei Baranovsky at a market in Minsk, Belarus. He passed on the preserved seeds to American tomato enthusiasts. It is one of those tomatoes whose journey into the collection began with recognizing the value in a fruit sold at an ordinary market.
