Kellog's Breakfast is a large orange tomato with juicy flesh and a pleasant, slightly sweet flavor. The fruits in our description weigh 400–900 g. Thick slices look great on a breakfast sandwich, and ripe tomatoes are also perfect for a light sauce or creamy tomato soup.
In international collections, you’ll find it listed as “Kellogg’s Breakfast.” It honors Darrell Kellogg of Michigan, who preserved this variety, which originated in West Virginia. Subsequent sharing of seeds allowed it to find its way into gardens far beyond its place of origin.
The plant grows tall and needs sturdy support. The fruit ripens later—approximately 84 days after planting the seedlings—so it’s best to give it a sunny, warm spot. If you’re choosing an “orange giant” for your own tasting, compare it to “Amana Orange.”
