Vascular Wilting

Also known as: vascular atrophy

Vascular wilt is a symptom of diseases that damage the vascular tissues, such as fusarium wilt or verticillium wilt. The pathogens block water transport, causing the plant to wilt despite adequately moist soil. A characteristic symptom is the browning of the vascular bundles, visible when the stem is cut open. A suspected plant should be isolated, soil movement should be minimized, and the cause should be identified, rather than increasing watering.
