Upper leaves
The upper part of the plant includes both the youngest, developing leaves and those that are already fully developed. Young leaves initially consume assimilates themselves and only later become a source of them. The contribution of mature leaves to fruit nutrition depends, among other things, on their position relative to the cluster. Premature removal of healthy leaves can reduce yield; therefore, the extent of pruning should be adjusted to the condition and training method of the plant, not just to the height of the leaf.
