Seed fermentation time
Tomato seed fermentation usually takes 2 to 4 days, depending on the ambient temperature. During this time, the gelatinous coating surrounding nasiona and some of the microorganisms on their surface break down. Fermentation that is too short makes it difficult to thoroughly clean the seeds, while fermentation that is too long can impair their quality and germination capacity. The process should be stopped when a thin layer of mold or a characteristic film appears on the surface.
