Quality of Seedlings

The quality of the seedlings has a huge impact on the success of the entire crop. Good seedlings should be stocky, well-rooted, a deep green color, free of signs of disease and pests, and have a well-developed root system. Leggy, pale, or overgrown seedlings tolerate transplanting much less well and usually produce lower yields. For planting, select healthy, compact plants, provide them with a sufficiently large container, and harden them off before moving them to their permanent location.
