Plant Immunization

Plant immunization is a colloquial term for inducing or priming a plant’s natural defense mechanisms. Such a response can be triggered by contact with a pathogen, an elicitor, or certain beneficial microorganisms, leading to acquired systemic immunity (SAR) or induced systemic immunity (ISR). As a result, the plant can respond to infection more quickly and vigorously, but it does not achieve full or lasting immunity. Proper fertilization supports the plant’s health but is not, in and of itself, immunization. Products claiming such effects should be used only as directed on the label and treated as a supplement, not a substitute, for hygiene and preventive measures.
