Phosphorus (P)

Phosphorus is a macronutrient essential for root system development, flowering, and fruit set. It plays a role in the storage and transfer of energy in all plant cells. Deficiency is characterized by stunted growth, poor root development, and dark or purple discoloration of the leaves. In cool soil, phosphorus uptake is significantly reduced, even if phosphorus levels are sufficient. Before applying a phosphorus fertilizer, check the soil temperature and pH, and, if possible, review the results of a soil analysis.
