Magnesium (Mg)
Magnesium (Mg) is a macronutrient that serves as a central component of the chlorophyll molecule and activates many enzymes. It therefore plays a direct role in photosynthesis and the plant’s energy metabolism. A deficiency usually first becomes apparent on older leaves as chlorosis between the veins. Magnesium supplementation should be based on a diagnosis of deficiency and an analysis of the soil or growing medium, as similar symptoms may have other causes.
