Leaf venation

"Lanceolate leaves" is an ambiguous, descriptive term for leaves or leaflets that are excessively elongated, narrow, and sometimes deformed. This appearance may be a varietal trait, but it also occurs following herbicide damage, during certain viral infections, or in connection with other growth disorders. Light deficiency more often causes the entire plant to become leggy and is not sufficient on its own to diagnose the cause. When making a diagnosis, consider the distribution of symptoms, the presence of mosaic patterns or stunted growth, and the history of herbicide use. Do not fertilize or spray the plant based solely on leaf shape; if a virus is suspected, it is advisable to isolate the plant until a diagnosis is confirmed.
