Haploidy

Haploidy refers to having a single set of chromosomes. In breeding, a haploid is first obtained, and then its chromosome set is doubled, resulting in a completely homozygous doubled-haploid line (DH). Only this stage allows for the rapid production of stable breeding material. In tomatoes, the production of doubled haploids remains difficult, depending on the method and genotype, and is not a routine technique.
