Foreign Roots
Also known as: roots on a tomato stem
Adventitious roots grow from the stem, most often after it comes into contact with moist soil. This is a characteristic feature of the tomato plant, which allows it to develop an additional root system very easily. That is why seedlings are often planted deeper than they were in their pots.
