Etiolation
Also known as: seedlings stretching upwardseedlings reaching upward
Etiolation is the excessive elongation of plants caused by a prolonged lack of light. Seedlings become thin, pale, and brittle, and the internodes lengthen noticeably. Etiolated plants are significantly weaker and tolerate transplanting less well. This problem can be prevented by providing adequate lighting and maintaining the proper temperature during seedling production.
