Coordinate cultivation

Companion planting involves planting species side by side that have a beneficial effect on one another. Basil, marigolds, onions, or garlic are often planted near tomatoes. Carefully selected plants can help control certain pests and improve space utilization. Companion plants should not restrict the tomatoes’ access to light, airflow, or root space, and they are not a substitute for pest monitoring.
