Bacterial Spot of Tomato
Bacterial spot is caused by bacteria of the genus Xanthomonas. It manifests as dark spots on leaves, stems, and fruit, which over time can lead to premature leaf dieback and a significant reduction in yield. The disease spreads rapidly during rain, sprinkling, and when performing maintenance tasks on wet plants. Minimizing leaf wetting, disinfecting tools, and removing infected plants significantly reduce the risk of its development.
