Anthracnose

A fungal disease most commonly caused by fungi of the genus Colletotrichum. It primarily affects ripening fruit, on which small, dark, sunken spots appear that gradually increase in diameter. Under humid conditions, pinkish-orange clusters of spores may appear on the surface of the lesions. The pathogen often develops on the fruit before harvest, but symptoms do not become visible until the fruit ripens. The risk of the disease can be reduced through crop rotation, the removal of plant debris, and the harvest of healthy fruit.
