An exceptionally striking variety that combines a deep indigo color with a golden skin and a multicolored, pineapple-like interior. Decorative throughout, it reveals an equally beautiful blend of yellow, orange, and red when cut open.

Yellow Dragon is a tall-growing variety with indefinite growth and a regular leaf type. When grown at Pomidorlandia, it ripens moderately late. It requires staking and training on supports.

The fruits are medium-sized, round to flattened, sometimes with delicate ribbing near the stem. When ripe, the skin turns yellow and golden-orange, contrasting sharply with dark purple—and in some places, nearly black—anthocyanin markings. The indigo coloration is particularly pronounced on the shoulders of the fruit and may extend in irregular streaks down its sides.

The flesh is fleshy and juicy, yellow-orange in color, with red or pinkish-red marbling, the intensity of which varies from fruit to fruit. It has a “pineapple-like” cross-section—a term referring exclusively to the combination of flesh colors. In collectors’ descriptions, the flavor is described as sweet, with noticeable acidity and a distinct tomato character.

It looks best when served fresh: in thick slices, in salads, and on tomato platters, where both the dark skin and the colorful interior can be showcased.

Collector sources attribute the creation of the Yellow Dragon to American breeder Mark McCaslin and indicate that it originates from the Siberian Tiger line. This information is reported by both Tomatofifou and Meraki Seeds. This is collector’s lore; the full breeding lineage has not been confirmed in the breeder’s direct documentation.
