This is a variety of “Cherokee Purple” characterized by white mottling on the leaves of young plants. In our cultivation, this trait is most easily noticed on seedlings; it disappears once the sixth leaf has developed. It’s therefore worth taking a closer look at it early in the season.
The other qualities of the fruit are consistent with the Cherokee Purple variety we are familiar with. The plant is tall, requires staking, and begins to bear fruit about 75 days after transplanting.
