Tasty Wine produces fleshy, pink-carmine tomatoes on a dwarf plant. The slightly flattened fruits have a rich, balanced flavor and are suitable for slicing. This is an interesting choice when garden space is limited but you still want tomatoes larger than cherry tomatoes.
The variety was developed by the Dwarf Tomato Project. Vince Lavallo selected it from the offspring of a cross between “Dwarf Wild Fred” and “Brandywine,” and it was made available to gardeners in 2016. It combines the compact plant form with the flavor qualities of large salad tomatoes.
It can be grown in a garden bed or in a sufficiently large container. Despite its shorter stature, it needs support, and when grown in a pot, it also requires regular watering.
