Mr Hawkin's is a pinkish-red tomato with fleshy, rounded, and slightly flattened fruits. In our variety, they weigh up to about 300 g. Their full, fruity-sweet flavor makes them ideal for sandwiches and salads, preferably with just a few additions.
In international collections, this variety is listed as “Mr. Hawkins.” According to TomatoFest, Calvin Wait named this tomato variety in honor of his schoolteacher. It’s a lovely example of a horticultural legacy: a person’s name lives on in the seeds sown by future generations.
The plant grows tall and requires staking. Descriptions of this variety note potato-shaped leaves, and sometimes regular-shaped ones as well. The fruits ripen in the middle of the season. If you’re looking for a similar use for fresh pink tomatoes, compare it to the “Russian Rose.”
