A variety with very large, oxheart-shaped fruits. They are deep red, sweet, and perfect for eating fresh, but even better for purees or other preserves. The fruit ripens late, but the wait is rewarded with a delicious sweet taste and a full, tomato-like aroma. The Siebenburgen variety originates from Romania.
Siebenbürgen is the German name for Transylvania, located in present-day Romania. The variety’s name thus preserves a geographical reference to the region from which it is passed down through seed collections.
