A truly unique variety with beautiful fruits weighing up to 100 grams. As they grow, the fruits change color—at first, they are an intense green with distinct darker stripes and deep black (indigo) mottling. When they reach maturity, the green part turns a deep red, and the dark coloring takes on a shade of impenetrable black. A high-yielding variety with tasty fruit and an intense aroma. A medium-late variety; the fruit reaches maturity after about 78 days. The plant is tall and requires staking or tying up.
Cosmic Eclipse was developed by Brad Gates of Wild Boar Farms. In an interview published in 2016, it was listed among the breeder’s new varieties at the time. This is a modern variety in which horticultural selection is also used to create unusual patterns on the fruit.
